When my TPMS alarm came on last week, it got me thinking about underinflation. This photo demonstrates exactly how hard it is to tell when a tire is underinflated. Looking at these tires, I find it difficult to distinguish between the one on the left and the one on the right. FYI: The one on the left is 30% underinflated. TPMS alarms, which come on at 25% underinflation, could be mistakenly reset if somebody just looked at their tires and thought there was no issue.
Nitrogen filled tires maintain proper pressure longer and are a remedy for the chronic underinflation that plagues North America.
