Nitrogen is less resistant to pressure changes in high heat situations, but they're the most effective in heavy load and high speed situations that regular on-road street tires don't see.

I disagree. NHTSA says that the average North American car and light truck is underinflated by 10-11 psi. This robs vehicles of gas mileage (3-4%) and tire life (18%). While nitrogen tire inflation will not cure all underinflation (due to leakes, etc.), it will help with those people that can't/don't check tire pressure regularly.
